Introduction to the Guidelines

Introduction to the Federal Sentencing Guidelines

The United States Probation Office conducts training throughout the year for law clerks, interns, externs, and members of the federal bar.  We also speak to community groups and schools about our Mission and the role of the United States Probation Officer.  Contact us if you wish to have us give a presentation to your group.

One method of training involves our use of a powerpoint presentation created by the United States Sentencing Commission.  The powerpoint is attached below, and we use it in our introductory course on the federal sentencing guidelines.  The introductory course is designed for those practicing in federal court with little or no experience with the federal sentencing guidelines.

* Note * the powerpoint presentation was converted to PDF as it is not downloadable as a powerpoint.
